Lefty Been Rich is Here for the Long Run
Purple Mag sat down with Brooklyn artist Lefty Been Rich following the release of his debut EP, Gallery.
PM: What do you want people to learn about you as an artist from listening to “Gallery”?
LBR: I want people to learn how versatile I am in terms of the tones I can produce throughout my track list of songs. It shows I can slow down my music and speed it up. I want the listeners to know I can provide the vibes they need and that I am here for the long run.
PM: You mix UK dance influences with NYC rap sounds. How did your unique sound come about?
LBR: I’ve always been a fan of UK rap especially in the early Skepta come up era, but we didn’t have the same melodic nature. I wanted to control my own originality with the sound I enjoy creating.
PM: What artists would you love to collaborate with in the future?
LBR: Definitely some iconic artists such as Drake, Kid Laroi, A Boogie, Future
But more so on my creative side I would want to mix sounds with actual UK artist like Octavian, Central Cee, Dave. Burna Boy because I feel like he caters a lot to my crowd And also doing DJ/Artist mixing with Tiesto for the Europe crowd. I would really love to see what I could create together with these artists.
