Book Review: The Perfect Find by Tia Williams

A sweeter, softer love story to the author’s breakout hit “Seven Days in June”.

Despite the lack of trauma in comparison to Seven Days in June, The Perfect Find has a similar effect where we just can’t help but fall in love with the characters ourselves. I absolutely loved this book, and felt an immediate interest in all the players in it - which is rare for me in romance novels. Typically I need to warm up to the story before realizing who I’m rooting for - but in the novel - I couldn’t help but root for Jenna. I loved the way Eric saw her, truly saw her, and in showing that Tia Williams showed the reader why we were supposed to root for Eric too.

Jenna and Eric have both been burned before, in their own ways, but fate pushes them together nonetheless. Though the ending has received some pushback (why didn’t Jenna tell him about the baby?!?!) I personally feel it was perfect. Eric and Jenna both got what they wanted, and what was perfect for them at the time. Yet they still found each other in the end, confirming our suspicions that they really are meant to be. To me, the ending gave a whole new meaning to the book’s title.

One storyline stuck out to me: I would love to hear from Darcy’s point of view. While her present-day character is no doubt monsterous, her backstory reveals layers of a broken woman doing the best with what she is handed.

*spoilers from here on out*
